The release fork, also known as the clutch release lever or throwout fork, is a key component in the clutch assembly of a manual transmission. It is located between the clutch pedal and the clutch mechanism, usually in the engine compartment. The primary function of the Release Fork is to physically push or pull the release bearing (also known as the clutch bearing) to separate the clutch pressure plate from the clutch disc, thereby temporarily disconnecting the engine from the transmission.
